Portents Project

Screen the first installment of Jared Pappas-Kelley's new video series and paintings:

On January 1st of 2021 I will be launching a video project that will be released week-by-week over the course of the entire year along with a series of new paintings called Wooden Portents.

These video pieces are one part shipping forecast/oracle/number station in format, another part enigmatic image and sound composition with the first of the series premiering January 1st.

“In these poignant video/sound pieces artist Jared Pappas-Kelley questions how external images might coincide or tether a specific moment (and our understanding of what it means to be contemporary), underpinning a desire for certainty in unsettled times. In 2021 the artist launches an ambitious audio and image project with a new series of recordings that build upon these structures over the duration of a year. In support of this project, a new sequence of Wooden Portent paintings are now available exclusively from Invert/Extant.”
